Mission Statement
The CATCH Global Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization, headquartered in Austin, Texas, with the mission of improving children’s health worldwide by developing, disseminating, and sustaining the evidence-based CATCH platform of health education programs and curricula. The Foundation links underserved schools and communities to the resources necessary to create and sustain healthy change for future generations.
About This Cause
CATCH youth health programs began in 1988 with a research grant from the US National Institute of Health and now reach 3 million children ages 4-18 in 15,000 schools in the United States, Canada, Ecuador, and other countries around the world. CATCH programs cover health education topics addressing nutrition, physical activity, SEL, vaping prevention and more. Over 120 peer-reviewed scientific papers document CATCH’s evidence of effectiveness in improving youth knowledge and healthy behavior in physical activity and nutrition – the two most important protective factors against non-communicable diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and cancer. In response to the youth vaping epidemic, CATCH also offers CATCH My Breath, the world's first and only youth nicotine vaping prevention program for youth in Grades 5-12. CATCH My Breath has reached 1 million youth and is proven to reduce youth experimentation with vaping by close to half. CATCH stands for Coordinated Approach to Child Health, and the curriculum continues to be tested and improved by researchers from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) School of Public Health. More than 25 years of research and real world implementation has gone into this well-renowned, successful program. CATCH has been expanded beyond elementary school and now has programs and health education curriculum for early childhood through middle school, including the after-school and childcare settings.
