Special Olympics Nebraska transforms the lives of over 6000 people with Intellectual Disabilities through programming in sports, health and education.

About This Cause

The mission of Special Olympics Nebraska is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them the opportunity to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendships with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. Special Olympics Nebraska: • ensures that all persons with intellectual disabilities have the chance to become useful and productive citizens who are accepted and respected in their communities. • conducts public education and community building activities to reach parents seeking help with children who have intellectual disabilities. • devotes extensive resources to volunteer training, recruitment and retention of athletes to sustain high quality and consistency in all of our services.
