About This Cause

Our vision is that no one has to grieve alone. The agency provides excellent and compassionate FREE grief support programs as well as professional education and training. The agency strives to level the playing field and mitigate all barriers to accessing support. Our programs brands include: Ted E. Bear Hollow (ages 3-9): facilitates peer support by creating a space for “kids to be kids” through a variety of methods including: play, music, art, and reflective sharing. Grief's Journey (ages 10-18, Adults): each program has been designed to break down isolation and stigma, and equip individuals and families with healthy coping strategies and enhanced communication skills. HEALing Embrace (teens and adults): the purpose of HEALing Embrace is to provide hope, healing, and support for individuals and families navigating pregnancy and infant loss. We believe everyone should have access to free, competent grief and survivorship support and that our community is made more compassionate, stronger, and resilient as the result of it. To that end, the agency is steadfast in its commitment to improving and expanding its outreach and inclusion work. All services are designed to level the playing field, mitigate vulnerabilities, and foster positive outcomes for all who are grieving. We support our clients (program participants) and partners (mostly schools and other non-profit agencies) by providing FREE peer support groups (cohort and open), day camps, overnight retreats, and a variety of educational workshops, training sessions, and technical assistance. This is because grieving individuals and families suffer multiple tragedies following the death of someone important to them. Individuals are at increased risk for depression, anxiety, poor school or work attendance, isolation, behavior problems, drug / alcohol abuse, incarceration and suicide. The Collective for Hope utilizes hundreds of trained volunteers each year as well as currently having staff members totaling 5 FTE. We are supported by a generous, philanthropic community including foundations, corporations and individuals.
