Freedom United's mission is to make modern slavery an issue that people can see and solve.
About This Cause
Modern slavery is everywhere. On any one day over 50 million people are living in conditions in which they and treated as property, exploited for their labor or sexually, for someone else's benefit, through coercion, deception, penalty or punishment. Most of us are connected to modern slavery, albeit it indirectly through the products we buy. You can do something about it! Freedom United offers you the opportunity to make a difference. When your voice is combined with others, it creates a powerful force for change. Our platform provides a place where people can use their voice and unite with others to act together by lending their voice to targeted campaigns on issues in the U.S. and abroad in partnership with organizations globally. Current campaigns include stopping the rollbacks on child labor laws in the U.S., to end Uyghur forced labor in China, and calls for safe migration everywhere to prevent trafficking. Freedom United also publishes a Global News Digest, which is trusted by 363,829 subscribers. With new curated stories published weekly, it gives subscribers around the world an informed understanding of modern slavery as well as providing developments in the modern slavery space. It also offers a way for readers to use their knowledge to act, through timely actions that create power for change. Our theory of change is that by building the public’s understanding of their connection to modern slavery and what it looks like, and then mobilizing people in coordinated campaigns, we build momentum behind calls for change, and powers anti-slavery efforts, generating the will for action that helps prevent modern slavery, so building greater resilience. Together we influence governments, business and society to make the changes necessary to end modern slavery.
