About This Cause
Established in honor of Jennifer Lawson, who lost her life in 2014, the Jennifer Bush-Lawson Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, serves economically vulnerable mothers and infants by working to increaseaccess to high-quality maternal and pediatrichealth care and support. Jennifer was a loving, dedicated mother of three, driven to advocacy after receiving high-quality care during her own complicated pregnancies. JB-LF seeks to embody her generous spirit by giving all mothers and newborns the means to thrive. Our impact includes: - Providing almost $250,000 in contributions and grants, including: o Piloting a tele-medicine program that saw a 61% reduction in NICU admissions and a 25% reduction in primary c-sections. o Research to explore stress, anxiety, and depression in low-income black perinatal women. o Funding all costs for the first year of appointments for 240 infants. - Partnering with the community to close the gap of obstacles to care such as: o Providing metro cards, blood pressure cuffs, car seats, safe sleeping environment, breast pumps, etc. - Hosting an event series to explore important topics such as maternal mortality and race, bias, and equity in prenatal care.
