Mission Statement
Through exciting & unique musical events featuring the talents of brass musicians worldwide, CancerBlows raises both awareness and funds to encourage research for cancers with a focus on blood cancers & multiple myeloma.
About This Cause
The Ryan Anthony Foundation was created in 2014 by Dallas Symphony Orchestra principal trumpet, Ryan Anthony after being diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a terminal cancer of the blood and bone marrow. When Ryan was undergoing a stem cell transplant, many of his trumpet friends called to offer support. Doc Severinsen, former Tonight Show band leader, asked what he could do to help. Ryan responded, "When I am healthy again, we'll all play a concert together." The first CancerBlows concert in Dallas, Texas on March 4, 2015 was the culmination of that conversation featuring Doc Severinsen, Arturo Sandoval, Lee Loughnane (Chicago) and 25 other legendary trumpeters. CancerBlows sold out and raised over $1 million. The concert was such a success, CancerBlows continues the music and the mission with additional concerts and events.
