Mission Statement

We teach and train working professionals in the Bay Area to be committed partners working towards community-based change.

About This Cause

YCore exists to build solidarity across socioeconomic boundaries for a more just, inclusive, and equitable future. For eight years, we have been building connections in the San Francisco Bay Area to motivate young professionals to connect with their local communities to produce actionable, long-term, and equitable change. Our programming teaches and trains young professionals to be committed partners and advocates working towards community-based change. Our young professional fellows are in their 20s and early 30s, work full-time, and usually have a bachelor’s degree. They are a group with a significant amount of privilege, and many of them will eventually gain immense resources. They come to YCore because they sense the major socioeconomic divisions in the Bay Area and want to be part of positive change, but they don’t know where to start. YCore fills a major gap that no other program addresses: providing not just a volunteer opportunity, but a venue to engage in deep connections across the widening gap between those in the Bay Area with privilege and those without. For our fellows, these connections provide a foundation for the choices they make about their careers, their commitment to social change, and how they show up as members of the local community.
