Mission Statement

Our mission at Internal Creations is to develop leadership, self-sufficiency, and life skills through learning the classical guitar to create responsible, fearless and independent leaders. We do this implementing free-of-charge guitar ensemble programs in schools, community centers and clinics. Students learn and embody the four pillars of life that ensure success in any field, which music naturally teaches us, which are; patience, persistence, passion and perseverance. Our main goal is to create conscious kids that make for better people.

About This Cause

Internal Creations provides access to free, after-school classical guitar programs in public schools and community centers for adolescent youth to keep them engaged in productivity during after-school hours that promote self-sufficiency and independence. Students learn how to play the classical guitar as an ensemble and be required to perform for their community and complete a public service every year. The program introduces the participants to musical literacy, personal development, and music making by studying the classical guitar. The course empowers students to focus on the common goal of gaining a musical education that builds unity and support amongst their peers. The process extends into improvements into managing personal expectations, academic performance, and life skills. Students learn proper guitar technique, how to read standard music notation, and how to apply the disciplines learned through music into their daily lives. Students are encouraged through mentorship, guest lecturers/artists and support from the community at large. This bolsters their self-esteem, self-sufficiency and life skills. It is particularly effective with those who need extra support both academically and emotionally as we utilize music to piece together the micro steps that helps students succeed in learning and retaining skills such as, but not limited to: solving problems with different perspectives such as slow practice techniques, understanding what is productive vs. unproductive practice and developing self-awareness of the body and mind. This approach helps participants to reach goals that are natural to music education: learning how to listen; how to understand and execute time management; build confidence; teamwork: and self-discipline.
