Mission Statement

The mission of the K.W.O.E. Foundation is to initiate change in underserved communities by leading the path for today's youth by promoting ownership of their actions, reject violence, and make wise life decisions.

About This Cause

Established in 2015, the K.W.O.E. Hope Foundation sought to incite change in trajectory of children living in the turbulent communities on the West Side of Chicago. Via school based motivational presentations, the Foundation’s founder and native West Side resident, Kareem Wells, uses his personal experience to inspire children to rise above their conditions by creating a sense of self determination and desire for something more. In 2018, the organization adjusted its name from the K.W.O.E. Hope Foundation to the K.W.O.E. Foundation, as it realized the need for more community collaboration in the work to keep the Chicago community safe. While 2018 saw a decrease in the city’s homicide rate, there was a significant increase in the number of gun seizures, indicating the need for more education and advocacy. The K.W.O.E. Foundation functions as a single point of access for local youth serving nonprofits in need of connections, advocacy, and education. By engaging with a variety of community-based organizations, the Foundation functions as a conduit via introductions, roundtable discussions, advocacy and connections to funding, in support of its overall mission; redirecting the mindset of Chicago youth.
