Mission Statement
Prosperity through Self-Reliance - We alleviate systemic poverty and malnutrition in the Philippines through self-reliance principles, education, training, job creation and enterprise solutions. What We Do: 1. We operate regional Learning & Gardening Centers run by Filipinos for Filipinos (“Centers”). Our Centers model self-reliance and are financially self-sustaining. The Centers also produce a consistent supply of nutritious food for malnourished children within local communities. 2. At our Centers we teach self-reliance solutions to individuals and families to improve nutrition, health, savings, and income. 3. We establish partnerships with local governments and schools to address the immediate needs of malnourished children. We provide balanced nutritious meals coupled with home visits to assess and simply teach family nutrition, hygiene, sanitation practices and disease prevention strategies. 4. We offer meaningful jobs paying livable wages and provide our employees training to improve their technical and leadership skills. 5. We seek to make each of our Centers self-sustaining, so that donations to the foundation can be allocated to growth and expanded impact. 6. Applying self-reliance principals, we partner with local communities to prepare for natural disasters by organizing community response plans and teams, acquiring emergency response equipment, drilling wells for community water stations and providing affordable solutions for emergency housing. What We Value: 1. We value our employees and recognize their importance to our success. We value and train leadership in all our operations. 2. We believe in self-reliance practices that foster individual accountability and responsibility and lead to personal growth and a fulfilling life. 3. We focus on operational and impact excellence. We collect and evaluate data honestly, continually learning, testing and assessing performance and opportunities to improve. 4. We value the culture of the Philippines, and we seek to partner with, to be compliant with, and to operate within the governmental structure both locally and nationally. 5. We seek to partner with local government, schools, other charitable and humanitarian organizations, and religious and faith-based groups to accomplish our work. We believe in the role of faith in making the changes necessary to rise above poverty.
About This Cause
We are focused on helping Filipinos impact generational poverty through self-reliance principals, education, training, job creation and enterprise solutions. Partnered with Mentors International, we provide life skills and enterprise training. We operate 4 large regional farms yielding hundreds of thousands kilos of highly nutritious vegetables and fruit which are used to feed thousands of malnourished children five days a week though school and community based feeding programs. We also provide potable water and public restrooms in poor communities and are first responders when national disasters occur with providing food and housing assistance. All currently employ approximately 300 individual in-country, all Filipinos. In the US, the board and US Advisors are seasoned professionals who volunteer their time. Our paid staff is kept to a minimum keeping our adminstrative cost below 10% of our total annual budget.
