Mission Statement

iCARRe Foundation is a non-profit organization with 501(c)3 status, created in October 2014 with the purpose of building at risk youth and transforming them into productive members of our community. Since 2014, the iCARRe Foundation has worked in Baltimore City and the local eligible metropolitan area (EMA) providing substance use prevention education and mentoring for at risk/high risk youth on bullying, physical health and nutrition. The staff has engaged young people through local schools, community recreation and sports leagues, and local church youth groups. Our youth are engaged in educational activities catered to the dangers of illicit substance use and the behaviors, attitudes and ideas associated. They also develop ways to manage anger, resolve conflict, and make healthy nutritional choices.

About This Cause

iCARRe Youth Substance Use Prevention Program is a community-based program that includes school-wide climate change and a detailed curriculum with lessons 1-2 times a week—approximately 48 lessons, 15-60 minute lessons, per boys and girls, grade 5-12. Lessons for each grade level are scripted and age-appropriate. All materials necessary to teach the lesson are provided including posters, music, games, and other hands–on materials integrated into the lessons. Students’ materials include activity booklets, journals and other lesson aids. iCARRe Mentoring Program focuses on the prevention and awareness of substance abuse, bullying and childhood obesity. We execute our mission by strategically setting standards and goals, and implementing structure to foster a secure environment. We hold our students and parents accountable by emphasizing education by offering tutoring services and teaching time management skills. We also educate students on other important areas in life such as puberty/adolescent transition, economics, conflict resolution and anger management. We meet weekly for 1.5 hour sessions at our Glen Burnie and 2 Baltimore City locations. iCARRe Foundation is committed to raising funds through grants, sponsorship, and donations for the purpose of providing materials, food and cultural experiences such as trips to museums, fishing, talent and health expos, entertainment events and sports participation. We introduce our students to the polarizing political and media landscape with strong encouragement to participate in community service. iCARRe Foundation’s program uses interactive classroom sessions to develop critical thinking and to understand the relationships between education, faith, health and service. We set individual benchmarks and formulate a plan of action to have each student meet realistic goals and to set new goals for the future. iCARRe Foundation has become a refuge for kids who are underprivileged, alone, or just need a sense of direction. We encourage our students to believe that they can overcome obstacles in any environment. We are breaking generational cycles without regard for lack of education, low self-esteem, fear, failure and crime in OUR COMMUNITY. PROGRAM OUTCOMES Students and schools in our program will show significantly: • higher socio-emotional and character development at grades 5-12 • lower self-reported substance use at grades 5-12. • lower self-reported violence at grades 5-8 • lower parent-reported bullying at grades 5-8, and lower self-reported bullying at grades 5-8. • lower depression and anxiety at grades 5-12. • lower unhealthy food consumption at grades 5-12. • lower school-level disciplinary referrals and suspensions at grades 5-12. • better reading test scores at grades 5-8.
