Mission Statement
The South San Francisco Public Library Foundation raises funds to support learning and literacy in the South San Francisco community, now, and for future generations. With a strong emphasis on library collections, children’s services, literacy programs, cultural and educational classes and events for all ages, access to current information and technologies, community connections, and improved facilities, our major focus is in partnering with the South San Francisco Parks and Recreation Department to build a New Main Library and Community Center for South San Francisco.
About This Cause
The South San Francisco Public Library Foundation raises funds to support library collections, children’s services, literacy programs, cultural and educational events for all ages, access to current information and technologies, and improved facilities. In partnership with South San Francisco City Council members, SSF Department of Parks and Recreation staff and supporters, and local individuals, Corporations and Foundations, our primary current goal is to raise funds to support and develop our New Main Library and Community Center, including diverse and engaging library collections, program spaces, early literacy interactive zones, high-tech Discovery Center, outdoor health, wellness and play spaces in a new 1.3 acre park, and art and performance spaces. Our vision of an exciting, welcoming, engaging, learning and activity center is anticipated to open in 2022. The South San Francisco Public Library Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that complements, but does not replace, tax-based City funding for South San Francisco's public libraries. We provide funds to ensure our community has access to ideas, information, technology, health and wellness classes, learning opportunities, art and cultural connections and community services now and for future generations.
