Mission Statement
Tinker Camp seeks to build essential mindsets in kids, like tenacity and courage, so they can be happy and successful in a STEM-intense future. We also teach educators to do the same.
About This Cause
We have evolved to learn by watching others and telling stories, not by doing sheets of homework for grades. Our ancient ancestors never learned to make an arrow by studying for a standardized test, but instead, told stories around a camp fire about the success and failures of their arrow design and the trial and error it took to make it. We practice a modern spin and include storytelling and narrative participation to teach core, fundamental mindsets for STEM/STEAM learning. At Tinker Camp, we reach out to disadvantaged kids and introduce engineering and design practices by integrating story and mentoring. Our goal is to help elementary school aged kids have a happy future.
