Mission Statement
Engineering Tomorrow is a nonprofit organization developed by engineers to expose talented high school students to the field of engineering, with a focus on underrepresented populations in the field, namely females and minority groups.
About This Cause
Engineering Tomorrow ("ET") is a nonprofit organization developed by engineers from Global Infrastructure Partners to increase the number of high school students who pursue engineering degrees. While we service all HS students at no cost, we strive to ensure the inclusion of historically underrepresented groups in the field, namely females and minority populations. The ET curriculum of labs is developed by engineers and delivered by engineers. In response to the pandemic, we transitioned our curriculum to "hybrid labs," where we provide: - teacher guides (aligned w/Next Generation STEM Standards); - interactive students workbooks; and, - kits with materials for students to complete the labs. For each lab, ET also schedules Zoom sessions with experienced engineers. Each lab has three zoom sessions: - Session 1 (45-60 mins): An engineer delivers an Intro to Engineering presentation and lab specific ppt presentation (scripts provided for all presentations). - Session 2 (30-45 mins): College engineering students engage in Q and A with high school students and answer questions about the lab. - Session 3 (30 mins): An engineer hosts a lab wrap-up session where students share their final designs/projects and the engineer provides feedback. The 10 hybrid labs are: 3D Printing, Aerodynamics, Bridges, Embedded Systems, Machine Learning (Catapults), Marvel App, Networks, Phototherapy, Robotics and Water Treatment. From 2014-March 2020, ET worked with 7,000 high school students in the New York and Washington DC Greater Metro Areas . With the introduction of “hybrid labs”, ET worked with 4,000+ students from Sept 2020-Jan 2021 in 16 States.
