MVP seeks to transform individuals, families and communities by providing access to quality programs and resources.

About This Cause

Metro Vision Partners, NFP was established in April 2015 and is located in Chicago's Auburn Gresham Community. Our mission is to transform lives, families and communities by providing evidence based programming and providing access to resources. We seek to make dreams into tangible realities for all. Since 2015, we have offered programs that increase participants capacity to build relationships with peers as well as adults. In the fall of 2016, MVP was a recipient of the Safe and Peaceful Communities Grant. MVP utilized these funds to create and implement the H.O.P.E. (Helping Others for Peace and Equality) Games and C.H.I.L.L. (Creating Harmony to Inspire Life and Love) Center. This program offered a safe space for Chicagoland youth and their families to increase family relations and cultivate relationships with their peers and neighbors. Participants were able to participate in games and sports, engage in mentoring and tutoring activities as well as gain access to community resources. This program served approximately 175 youth and families weekly. Since that time, MVP continues to provide safe haven programs that has served over 750 youth and families. MVP also offers the Kings and Queens of the P.R.I.D.E. (Promoting Resilience and Instilling the Desire to Excel) for middle school and high school students. P.R.I.D.E. is designed to support youth as they prepare to transition to and/or navigate high school and begin their transition to adulthood. This program is a combination of mentoring, social emotional learning (SEL) skills instruction and service learning. Participants focus on goal setting, communication, conflict resolution, self management, career exploration and building positive relationships. This power-packed program is designed to assist young ladies in developing healthy habits, life skills and a sense of purpose. Participants are able to embrace new experiences and operate outside of their comfort zone. The Book Drop Pop Up provides free books to youth and families. Every quarter, MVP staff and volunteers will pop up at a local establishment and donate books for all ages. Since it inception in 2018, this program has donated over 2000 books and e-books. During these pop-up, MVP also distributes health and hygiene products via the Get Fresh Project. The Sisterhood of Sassy Seniors (Triple S) program focuses on senior citizens still residing in their homes. Monthly activities are facilitated to get our senior citizens moving and engaged. Seniors also participate in tech awareness, medicare/medicaid and legacy planning work. The motto of the group is to try something different. Every quarter, the group identifies one new activity that they would like to try such as dance class, golf instruction, and painting.
