Mission Statement
Deaf Plus Adult Community enriches human connections through communication, education and empowerment with deaf adults with diverse abilities. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Core Values: Communication: DPAC values and practices all forms of communication that foster understanding and being understood. Communication is our critical tool for building human connections and community. Compassion: DPAC embodies a positive spirit, and practices patience, support and encouragement for self and others, that helps to build our community. Diversity: DPAC recognizes and respects all aspects of identity, continually seeks ways to connect all the intersections of our diversity, and be fully inclusive of consumers, families, and the communities DPAC touches. Access: By providing appropriate supports, DPAC offers accessible opportunities for consumers through education, skills development, and community experiences. DPAC provides accessible professional development and consultation in order to grow the awareness, knowledge and skills of our staff. DPAC engages in advocacy and program development to match consumer goals. Community: DPAC supports consumers in building relationships and friendships within our program, with their families and living environments, with the Deaf world, and in the community at large to insure their inclusion in all areas of society. Empowerment: DPAC recognizes and embraces the diverse needs and strengths of each consumer. Using person-centered principles, we focus on consumers’ individual growth and development in hearts, minds, bodies, and spirits.
About This Cause
Deaf Plus provides a variety of services for Deaf and Deafblind adults. We have a Day Program that runs from Monday through Friday from 8:30 am- 3:00 pm. Classes are taught in American sign language with over 90 % of deaf staff members. Classes include nutritional classes, science classes, Deaf Education, Deaf history and weekly field trips to integrate into the community. We also offer Supported Employment Program for those who wish to work, and need additional supports. Lastly, we offer Tailored Day Services- which is a 1:1 community outing made available for those who wish for specific services tailored to their needs.
