Mission Statement

Partnerships for Trauma Recovery (PTR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to healing trauma among international survivors of human rights abuses. PTR joins the global movement to reduce the mental health gap by addressing the psychosocial impacts of trauma caused by war, torture, human trafficking, and persecution due to identity and beliefs. We strive to narrow the gap by: (a) Expanding the availability of culturally aware, trauma-informed and contextually adapted mental health services; and (b) Reducing factors that cause trauma through trauma-informed policy analysis and advocacy.

About This Cause

Partnerships for Trauma Recovery’s Mosaic Healing Center in the East Bay of San Francisco provides culturally aware, trauma-informed and contextually adapted mental health support to refugees, asylees, asylum seekers and human trafficking survivors. Essential to the Mosaic Healing Center is our team of mental health interpreters which enables us to provide linguistically accessible care for international survivors of human rights abuses from all cultural, ethnic and linguistic groups residing throughout the greater San Francisco Bay Area. With combined expertise gained through over twenty years of providing clinical services to survivors of war trauma, torture and persecution, and in-depth experience implementing international human rights programming, our team integrates the fields of global mental health and human rights to expand the range - and increase the depth - of psychosocial support for this highly vulnerable population. The Mosaic Healing Center’s model draws on synergies among the core components of our programming to not only provide trauma recovery services to refugees, asylees, asylum seekers and human trafficking survivors, but also, to expand both knowledge and capacity in the field. As one of the few multidisciplinary clinical training programs in the nation with an international trauma specialization, the Mosaic Healing Center expands capacity in the Bay Area to serve these populations. And by guiding and facilitating doctoral student research, we contribute to knowledge at the intersection of human rights and global mental health, to inform and promote effective interventions for this population.
