About This Cause
The Beyond Project understands there is an extreme unmet need in our communities to care for the outside appearance of individuals in need to empower them in self-confidence that can lead to a job. Non-profit organizations generally focus on the basic necessities of food, shelter and clothing, all of these are undeniably important. Something that has generally been neglected for reasons of importance and lack of funding is that each person is this world has should have access to hygiene care services to bring them dignity. Uniquely, The Beyond Project is the first of its kind to meet an under-resourced area for our communities through beauty, health and wellness. There are few individuals volunteering, and most hairstylists and other industry professionals are unaware of where to begin to search for volunteer opportunities. We want to be that connection to INSPIRE CHANGE AND EMPOWER LIVES, not only for the target communities we are serving but also for the industry volunteers. We have witnessed the power of outside transformation through self-care and beauty services impact the inside transformation of individuals as their self-image, esteem and self-awareness is elevated. Our goal is to create self-confidence, value and worth for each individual we impact through services provided by the The Beyond Project. The organization is currently developing an online and mobile application that will be the platform for connecting services to communities in need. Non-Profit Organizations will be able to apply for needs within beauty, health and wellness categories that The Beyond Project can provide through the volunteer professionals from the beauty, health and wellness industries that will be set up in a database to receive notifications of these needs. This will be based on a registration process for both the non-profit organization providers and industry professionals. The projects will all be listed by description and based on an approval system by the board of directors. For example, the established projects that are currently under The Beyond Project are “Beyond the Cut”, “Beyond Beauty”, and “Beyond LA”. Each of these projects will have the partner organizations categorized by whom they serve in the community, such as domestic violence victims, sex trafficking victims, homeless shelters and more. The Beyond Projects is currently established in Seattle, Los Angeles and surrounding cities. It will then grow one major city at a time through our team ambassadors. The Beyond Project was officially founded in May 2015. Rachel Hile first sought out volunteering through her industry as a hair stylist in 2006 in cosmetology school and continued to do so by establishing full salon makeover days for women in need, providing haircuts for foster kids, prom hair for inner city girls and more. We believe in the importance of each individual knowing their value, worth and feeling self-confident in their skin with each service we provide.
