To create an exceptional learning environment for the students, teachers, staff, and families of Lakewood Elementary School in Durham, North Carolina.
About This Cause
The Friends of Lakewood Elementary Parent Teacher Association is a volunteer, non-profit organization of parents, teachers, and friends of the school dedicated to creating an exceptional learning environment for our students, teachers, staff, and families in and out of school. We work with the Lakewood Elementary School community of Durham, North Carolina to identify needs, and create and support programs which address those needs. Programs we fund and run at Lakewood Elementary: - Quality interpretation, food, and childcare at all PTA meetings and events - Teacher Reimbursement for Supplies - Teacher and Staff Appreciation with snacks, notes, and gifts throughout the year - Educational Enrichment - Field trips, afterschool activities, and academic support programs - Family Crisis Fund for families in need - Covid Safety and Support – We supplied every classroom in the school with HEPA air filtration systems, and raise money for better outdoor learning and eating areas - Family and Community Events
