Mission Statement

NRC works to protect the rights of displaced and vulnerable people during crisis.

About This Cause

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) works in both new and protracted crises across 31 countries such as Syria, Yemen, Colombia, Congo. Our 6,000 employees provide life-saving and long-term assistance to millions of displaced people every year. NRC specializes in six areas: food security, education, shelter, legal assistance, camp management, and water, sanitation, and hygiene. NRC is a determined advocate for displaced people. We promote and defend their rights and dignity in local communities, with national governments, and in the international arena.

Through our programmes, we provide assistance to meet immediate humanitarian needs, prevent further displacement and contribute to durable solutions. Through our stand-by rosters, we provide expertise as a strategic partner to the UN, as well as to national and international actors. Through our advocacy, we strive for rights to be upheld and for lasting solutions to be achieved.

We are a rights-based organization and are committed to the principles of humanity, neutrality, independence, and impartiality.
