Mission Statement
The Parks & Recreation Foundation of Johnson County is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that cultivates relationships and builds capacity for Johnson County Park and Recreation District and related philanthropic initiatives. Our mission is to promote the development and sustainability of parks, trails, green space, recreation, and the arts through advocacy and financial support. We believe in access and equity for all, and through a designated fund, seek to reduce barriers to participation for disadvantaged and underrepresented communities in the greater Kansas City area. Since 1977, we have preserved 1647 acres of park land in the most populated county in the state of Kansas. Currently we hold 229 acres for future park and recreation purposes and maintain an endowment fund.
About This Cause
Established in 1977, the Parks and Recreation Foundation of Johnson County is an independent donor-supported non-profit organization that cultivates financial support and community engagement. The Foundation works to provide opportunities for those who enjoy the District resources and recognizes their contribution to our quality of life in Johnson County and the local economy to financially support continued excellence.
