Mission Statement

Hanuman Fellowship is organized, and inspired by the example and teachings of master yogi Baba Hari Dass, to promote the principles and practice of Yoga by means of Sadhana (spiritual practice), Karma Yoga (selfless service) and Satsang (supportive community), as well as other spiritual disciplines and learning that foster personal and spiritual development and wellness and that create an environment for the attainment of peace.

About This Cause

Founded in 1971, the Hanuman Fellowship is a nonprofit dedicated to carrying forward the teachings of Baba Hari Dass. The Fellowship carries out its mission through its various projects, working toward the attainment of peace. The work of sustaining the Mount Madonna Center is done primarily on a volunteer basis, and is community-managed. Roughly 85 residents, as well as an extended community of local and international volunteers, work in the spirit of selfless service to support all the activities of the mission. Selfless service, or karma yoga, and personal and community practice are the methods for personal reflection and creative self-expression, and the foundation for the community. The Sankaṭ Mochan Hanumān Temple was founded and built by Sri Baba Hari Dass and his students as a place of devotion and peace and is located within Mount Madonna Center. The Temple welcomes thousands of visitors, volunteers, and well-wishers from around the world each year, serving as a place for the practice of Bhakti Yoga (yoga of devotion).
