Mission Statement
The mission of Special Olympics Ohio is to provide year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.
About This Cause
Special Olympics Ohio provides a lifetime of opportunities to athletes of all ages, at no cost to them, through the transformative power of sport. Over 20,000 athletes particpate every year. Many people are surprised to learn that our core programs of Sports, Unified Champion Schools, Healthy Athletes, and Athlete Leadership go beyond sporting events, to drive social change that enables whole community participation for people with intellectual disabilities.
