Mission Statement
The mission of Shaw Community Ministry is to enhance the lives and expand the opportunities of children, youth, and adults of the Shaw community, in Washington, D.C., by maintaining respectful relationships and working through partnerships and collaborations with local organizations and members of the community and others. We do so by providing many, varied educational programs that seek to empower the people of community; programs for which we seek community input and evaluation.
About This Cause
Our goal is that each child or teen who participates in our programs will grow up and become a "citizen of the world." A citizen of the world is well-educated and constantly seeks to learn more about themself and the world. A citizen of the world has been exposed to many learning opportunities and develops into a confident, poised person who can meet life's challenges and overcome racial, socio-economic and gender barriers.
