About This Cause

Founded in 1999, the Sacramento Area Animal Coalition (SAAC) is committed to eliminating companion animal overpopulation in the Sacramento area through aggressive spay/neuter efforts, humane education, community outreach and networking. SAAC is a non-profit, charitable organization with 501(c)(3) status. Currently we are focusing our efforts on targeted spay/neuter through the following three programs: (1) The Voucher Program operates year-round, helping low-income pet owners obtain spay/neuter surgeries at participating veterinary clinics for a small co-payment. (2) The Feral Cat Assistance Program provides low-cost spay/neuter surgeries for people who care for feral cat colonies. (3) Spay Day is an annual event held in February for low-income pet owners.
