Mission Statement
The US-Asia Institute (USAI) was founded in 1979 as a private, nongovernmental, 501(c)(3) organization devoted to building understanding and strengthening ties between the people and governments of the United States and Asia.
About This Cause
Now in its 45th year, the US-Asia Institute (USAI) was founded in 1979 as a private, United Nations-recognized nongovernmental, 501(c)(3) organization. USAI is unmatched in connecting, engaging and creating understanding between the people and governments of the United States and Asia at the highest levels. We are nonpartisan with no policy or monetary agenda of our own and are unparalleled in our depth of connections with Congressional Members and staff as well as within the diplomatic community. Through dialogue, people-to-people exchanges, and ongoing interaction at all levels, USAI has built a bond of trust and mutual respect and has succeeded in keeping channels for dialogue open. USAI is unique in that its leadership includes many with close ancestral, business and cultural ties to the region. USAI’s network of political, business, government, academic and emerging leaders in the U.S. and abroad provides unique insight and access vis-à-vis this important relationship.
