Mission Statement
Special Operations Warrior Foundation is unwavering in its commitment to honor the sacrifice of our Special Operations Personnel. We provide comprehensive “Cradle to Career” educational funding and advocacy for the children of fallen Special Operators, children of deceased SOF spouses, and children of all Medal of Honor Recipients. Additionally, SOWF offers immediate financial assistance to severely wounded, ill, and injured active-duty Special Operations Personnel, ensuring they receive critical support during their time of need.
About This Cause
Special Operations Warrior Foundation was founded in 1980 after the daring attempt to rescue 52 American hostages in Iran during Operation Eagle Claw, which ended in the tragic loss of eight servicemen who left behind 17 American children. A battlefield promise made to care for those 17 children has become the noble mission of the Special Operations Warrior Foundation to educate over 2,000 children. Since its inception, the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF) has been committed to honoring the sacrifice of Special Operations Personnel by ensuring “Cradle to Career” educational support to the children of fallen Special Operators, the children of deceased spouses of active-duty SOF personnel, and children of all Medal of Honor Recipients. Comprehensive educational support includes, but is not limited to, academic advocacy, preschool, and private school grants, tutoring, support for students with disabilities, college readiness programs, full financial assistance for up to a four-year post-secondary degree, access to our college-to-career transitions program, all while providing a variety of other practical programs and services. There is no application for SOWF programs and services. Program participants incur no “out-of-pocket” costs. Severely Wounded, Ill, and Injured Program Since 2006, SOWF has provided immediate financial assistance to severely wounded, ill, and injured active-duty SOF personnel who require hospitalization. This program provides immediate financial assistance of $6,000 and an iPad to severely wounded, ill, and injured active-duty SOF personnel who are hospitalized.
