Mission Statement
Virginia's leading voice on sexual and domestic violence for more than 40 years. We are a non-profit network of survivors, 70+ Sexual and Domestic Violence Agencies statewide, and allies working to strengthen how communities across Virginia respond to and prevent sexual and intimate partner violence.
About This Cause
As an advocacy organization, we provide the expertise needed to ensure an effective response: We train professionals and ensure that Sexual & Domestic Violence Agencies across Virginia meet standards that affirm/safeguard quality responses to survivors; Our public policy work builds relationships with key decision makers to strengthen state laws that help make survivors safer and communities more equitable; Our statewide prevention initiatives promote healthy relationships, joyful sexuality, and thriving communities. As a service provider, we offer people resources for making informed choices: We operate the Virginia Statewide Sexual and Domestic Violence Hotline, and PREA Hotline (for incarcerated individuals who have experienced sexual violence) and develop resources, expand options, and support safety and healing for Virginia communities. As a membership organization, we build diverse alliances across the state: We create a diverse network of governmental and non-governmental agencies, individuals, task forces, and caucuses to move in a unified and powerful way in support of safety, justice, and thriving conditions for all.
