Project Details
Our Mission is to heal the community-police relationship and create safer communities.
We work with local leaders, communities and law enforcement leaders to create scalable solutions that create systemic change.
The Initiative for Advancing the Blue & Black Partnership (the “Initiative”) was founded by a group of Howard University alumni and their friends who are using their voices, their talents, and their networks to end police violence that disproportionately impacts the black community and other communities of color. From Reconstruction to the passage of federal civil rights legislation of the 1960s, the Howard University School of Law educators and alumni like Thurgood Marshall, Pauli Murray, Charles Hamilton Houston and C. Clyde Ferguson Jr., challenged injustices under the law through civil rights litigation and sparked social movements that fought for equality and human dignity. The Initiative builds upon this long history of civil rights advocacy.
By supporting this Initiative, Sponsors will join with us to end violence in policing that disproportionately impacts black and brown communities.
