Mission Statement

“Believe In Tomorrow provides exceptional hospital and respite housing services to critically ill children and their families. We believe in keeping families together during a child’s medical crisis, and that the gentle cadence of normal family life has a powerful influence on the healing process.”

About This Cause

Believe In Tomorrow’s hospital housing facilities, the Believe In Tomorrow Children’s House at Johns Hopkins and the Believe In Tomorrow House at St. Casimir, provide for the short and long term residential needs of pediatric cancer patients being treated at the world renowned Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. Widely recognized as a leader in pediatric hospital housing services, our facilities keep families together in the midst of medical crisis, reduce stress and promote self help and mutual support. The Believe In Tomorrow House at St. Casimir is a nationally significant facility and the first stand alone hospital house in the United States to focus exclusively on the long-term housing needs of pediatric bone marrow transplant patients, their parents and siblings. Believe In Tomorrow offers all families staying in hospital housing an extraordinary array of on-site support services, from home cooked meals and entertainment services, to opportunities to enroll siblings in educational programs. Believe In Tomorrow pioneered the concept of pediatric respite housing and currently remains the only foundation in the United States leading this initiative. Believe In Tomorrow has three respite properties at the beach and two at the mountains that families traumatized by the emotional, financial and physical stress a child’s medical crisis creates can utilize free of charge throughout the year to recover, rejuvenate and reconnect as a family. Two respite houses are located at the beaches of Maryland, one at the Delaware beach, one in the mountains of Western Maryland, and one in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Believe In Tomorrow has forged strong relationships with businesses in the areas where their respite properties are located, so families can enjoy as many complimentary family activities, meals and experiences as they wish during their respite. Recognizing the financial burden cancer families are under, Believe In Tomorrow strives to offer families a diversified menu of exciting and engaging free events and activities, including snow skiing, ice skating, horseback riding, surfing lessons, fishing, tennis, golf, eating out, swimming, snow tubing, train and boat rides, and much more. The Local Adventure Programs (Hospital and Retreat Housing Support Services) allow critically ill children and their families to escape the rigors of medical treatment and participate in fun activities such as visits to the National Aquarium In Baltimore, Port Discovery and the Maryland Science Center, local museums, ballgames, as well as a variety of activities while at the Believe In Tomorrow Respite Houses. All of these programs aim to reduce stress on the children and their families by providing safe, clean, affordable accommodations while they undergo treatment and then providing them fun and relaxing experiences as a change from medical procedures and treatments. These activities help to ease loneliness, restore a sense of normalcy and a return to family life.
