Mission Statement

Thrive DC’s mission is to prevent and end homelessness by providing vulnerable individuals a range of services to help stabilize their lives.

About This Cause

Since 1979, Thrive DC has worked to prevent and end homelessness in Washington, DC. We provide people experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless with a broad range of services to stabilize their lives and become self-sufficient. Our basic emergency services include meals, showers, laundry, a grocery pantry, and access to computers/internet and telephone. We also serve as a mailing address for nearly 1,000 people. Additional "step up" services include case management, substance abuse counseling, connections to legal, health, and mental health organizations, and groups to support and encourage self expression. We are providing the last available safety net for people facing economic crisis, food insecurity, and housing instability, while also providing the first step toward independence for people experiencing extended periods of homelessness. For our city's most vulnerable and marginalized citizens, Thrive DC is at the the heart of a new start.
