Mission Statement

Look Good Feel Better is dedicated to changing the way people with cancer approach their disease. Reminding them that they are beautiful inside AND out. And letting them know that they can regain some normalcy and control in a life that is by no means normal.

About This Cause

Look Good Feel Better is a free, nonmedical, brand-neutral charitable program dedicated to improving the quality of life and self-esteem of people undergoing cancer treatment by helping them to deal with the appearance-related side effects of treatment. Since 1989, the program has helped millions of people in the US alone and millions more of women, men and teens have been helped around the world, through a network of Look Good Feel Better affiliates in 26 countries. The program offers complimentary group, individual and online beauty sessions that include lessons on skin and nail care, cosmetics, wigs and turbans, accessories and styling to help people with cancer face their diagnosis with greater confidence. Each year, thousands of local volunteers help to deliver live, in-person and virtual workshops in three different languages to support cancer patients in nearly every community from coast-to-coast. The need: One is 3 people are diagnosed with cancer in the U.S. each year. Mood and outlook go hand in hand with the immune system. Studies have shown that apositive outlook can have tremendously positive effects on white blood cell count, the soldier of the immune system. Conversely, a negative or hopeless outlook can drain andweakenthe immune system. Because of this, it is essential for cancer patients to do all they can to feel good about themselves and make the most of each day. Investing time and energy in one’s personal appearance can be a powerful component of boosting morale and confidence. This good energy in turn energizes the immune system, which is foundational to the healing and recovery process. "You have the capacity to take one from the devastation of the diagnosis and the effects of chemo to a hope for the future. Thank you.” - Virginia, Burlington, NC “With cancer you have no control over anything, so learning how to apply your make up and how to do things with your hair really makes you feel in control and makes you feel better.” LGFB Participant
