Mission Statement
Micah House is a two year residential program for women in recovery from drug and alcohol abuse
About This Cause
Since 1989 Micah House has provided a home and counseling for up to four women at a time. The women live in a row house in a residential neighborhood in northwest DC. The residents must prove they are not abusing any substance. They can stay at the house for up to two years. During that time they pay rent, which is a percentage of the salaries they earn, and they receive counseling from a qualified social worker who is in frequent contact. They build day-to-day living skills, including financial skills, taking care of their residence, and living together. There are also funds available to allow the women to take advantage of educational oportunities.
