Mission Statement

The International Association of Black Professionals in International Affairs (BPIA) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization founded in 1989 on a mission to increase the involvement of African-Americans and those of African descent in international affairs.

About This Cause

BPIA offers unique programming, including professional development workshops and our annual Africa Business and Economic Outlook Forum, to inform aspiring and established practitioners in international affairs on current trends, topics, and conversations in the field. We also provide a members-only mentorship program that connects students and young professionals with accomplished mentors for career development consultation and guidance. BPIA offers programs such as our annual International Careers Expo, where students and young professionals meet employers and graduate school and fellowship representatives, and learn from a panel of expert practitioners ways to best position themselves for successful international careers. We host social and professional networking events where guests make valuable connections, and we feature employment and educational opportunities in our monthly e-newsletter and on this web site.
