Mission Statement

Fight For Children is a nonprofit whose mission is to foster the physical, social and emotional, and academic development of student athletes from at-risk communities across Washington, DC.

About This Cause

The late Joseph E. Robert, Jr. founded Fight For Children in 1990 to give back to the community in which he and his employees lived and worked. Over the past 30 years, Fight For Children has served thousands of students from at-risk communities in Washington, DC, providing them with the education and healthcare resources they need to excel in school and in life. Today, our work is focused on supporting quality youth sports programming and coaching so that every child across the city is active, engaged, performing well in school, and on a path to a successful future. We accomplish this work by fostering meaningful cross-sector collaboration across the city, and raising money to support local nonprofits via our annual fundraising gala, Fight Night. In 2019, Fight For Children is partnered with seven (7) nonprofits to serve more than 4,250 preK-12th grade students in Washington, DC’s highest-need communities. Activities include after-school tennis and soccer programs, one-on-one coaching and mentorship for football and basketball players, summer baseball camps, and more.
