Mission Statement
The mission of the District of Columbia School of Law Foundation is to promote excellence in public legal education in the District of Columbia, specifically through provision of financial support for the students, faculty, and programs of the District’s public law school, the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law.
About This Cause
The District of Columbia School of Law Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that supports the students, faculty and programs of the District of Columbia's public law school, the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law (UDC Law). UDC Law is committed to the public interest, using the law to help those in need and reshape our community. Each year, its faculty and students provide more than 100,000 hours of essential legal services to DC residents. UDC Law is focused on extensive practical training, with the largest clinical requirement of any U.S. law school. Each student provides more than 600 hours of pro bono legal service, gaining direct, hands-on work experience and acquiring the skills needed to solve real problems. UDC Law strives to make law school affordable because graduating with less debt means students will have more flexibility to pursue public interest employment options after graduation. UDC Law is recognized as one of the nation’s most diverse law schools both for its faculty and students, making it a welcoming place where students of all backgrounds feel at home. UDC Law is located in the nation’s capital, offering many opportunities to meet leaders in law and policy and participate in creating litigation, and legislative, regulatory and organizing strategies focused on solving society’s toughest problems. UDC Law's small size means that students are not lost in the crowd, competing for attention, but personally know faculty and administrators. The spirit of support and collaboration runs deep.
