Lambda Literary nurtures and advocates for LGBTQ writers, elevating the impact of their words to create community, preserve our legacies, and affirm the value of our stories and our lives.
About This Cause
For over 30 years, we have helped bring LGBTQ writing into the world and into readers’ hands. Each year, our programs reach LGBTQ writers and readers at all stages of life. More than 2,000 students gain access to LGBTQ books and writers through our LGBTQ Writers-in-Schools program. Sixty up-and-coming writers representing the future of queer literature participate in the Writers Retreat for Emerging LGBTQ Voices, the nation's most sought-after residency for queer writers. Through the Lambda Literary Awards, hundreds of LGBTQ authors are celebrated each year. Thousands of book lovers come together in community at dozens of public readings and book clubs across the country.
