ASIAN-PACIFIC ISLANDER DOMESTIC VIOLENCE RESOURCE PROJECT

WASHINGTON, District of Columbia, 20044-4268 United States

Mission Statement

Pan-Asian organization serving Asian/Pacific Islander survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

About This Cause

DVRP's mission is to address, prevent and end domestic violence and sexual assault in Asian/Pacific Islander (A/PI) communities, while empowering survivors to rebuild their lives after abuse. DVRP's goals are: 1) to ensure abused A/PI survivors have access to culturally and linguistically responsive resources in order to make their own informed choices; 2) to raise awareness about the problems of domestic violence and sexual assault and unite A/PI communities against these issues; and 3) to ensure mainstream service providers receive cultural competency trainings to enhance their capacity to better serve A/PI survivors in the DC metropolitan area. We matter because we facilitate A/PI low-income, limited English proficient survivors' ability to access critical lifesaving services that are both linguistically and culturally appropriate. Without our culturally-specific services, A/PI survivors of domestic and sexual violence may feel compelled to remain in abusive relationships. We ensure that survivors know their choices and resources available to them.
