Mission Statement

The Washington Inner City Lacrosse Foundation (WINNERS) is a DC based 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides character and value based education through purposeful coaching using lacrosse as its vehicle to teach life skills to boys and girls in the DC area (ages 5-14).

About This Cause

WINNERS Lacrosse provides after school and weekend athletic programming (in the sport of lacrosse) to as many boys and girls as possible throughout Washington, DC in an enjoyable, safe, supervised team sport (perhaps for the first time – and one many have not ever heard of) while learning positive life lessons and skills allowing them to broaden their horizons. All WINNERS Programs subscribe and follow our MASTERS curriculum (Mentality, Achieve overall well-being, Sportsmanship, Take responsibility, Effective communication, Respect and Smile always). These skills are incorporated into all lesson plans so the youth are reminded of these core values on a daily basis when they are with our coaches/mentors. WINNERS offers DC area boys and girls the opportunity to belong to a team; to learn discipline, responsibility and accountability; to be respected and to respect; to learn values and life skills; and to be mentored by positive and encouraging coaches. Young participants from historically underserved neighborhoods learn these essential skills for success while playing lacrosse in a safe and fun environment. We constantly teach these skills, along with the necessary skills to play the game of lacrosse, through coaches training, curriculum training and lesson planning. We assist our players with secondary school placement and teach them about teamwork, responsibility, respect and accountability to help them reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible young men and women.
