Mission Statement
The Children's Environmental Health Network (CEHN) is a national nonpartisan organization whose mission is to protect the developing child from environmental health hazards and promote a healthier environment. CEHN believes that all children should have clean air and water, safer food and products, healthy environments, and a stable climate.
About This Cause
To achieve its mission, CEHN has had several goals: 1. to promote the development of sound public health, environmental, climate, and equity- and child-centered policy at all levels of government 2. to stimulate prevention-oriented research about pediatric environmental health 3. to raise awareness of environmental hazards to children, and educate and train various lay and professional audiences, including clinicians and health care professionals, child care professionals, policy makers, and families and parents; and 4. to provide leadership for the field of children's environmental health CEHN has been working since 1992 to promote this vital work and has a history of working with and convening a wide range of stakeholders. From health care and child care professionals to faith and policy leaders, to parents and care givers, CEHN has partnered with local and national professional and advocacy organizations, reaching local, state, federal, and international audiences. CEHN has been leading the children's environmental health movement for almost 30 years. Although environmental health strides have been made over this time, there is still much work to do and challenges to overcome to ensure all children live in safe and healthy environments where they can thrive. Climate change is one of the most pressing health threats to children and future generations. CEHN are leaders in the nexus of climate change, environmental justice, and children's health.
