Mission Statement
Together with families and communities, we create joyful, academically excellent schools that prepare students with the skills and confidence to pursue the paths they choose – college, career, and beyond- so they can lead fulfilling lives and build a more just world.
About This Cause
KIPP Baltimore enrolls 1400 Prekindergarten through eighth grade students in two public charter schools on a shared campus. With more than two decades of experience as a public education leader in Baltimore, KIPP Harmony Academy, KIPP Ujima Village Academy, and our KIPP Forward (formerly KIPP Through College) program serve 3,500+ current students and alumni - providing our students with college-preparatory educational experiences that prepare them for the rigors of high school, postsecondary learning, and beyond into satisfying careers of highest aspiration. Since its founding in 2002, KIPP Baltimore has built a legacy of rigorous academics, whole-student development, and individualized preparation for success in high school, college, career and beyond. Our school is located in West Baltimore in the former Walbrook High School building; more than seventy percent (70%) of our current students and the majority of our alumni reside in the greater Park Heights and West Baltimore’s historic Rosemont neighborhoods. As a public charter school, KIPP Baltimore offers free, open enrollment to all city residents. Upon matriculation to high school, KIPP students become KIPP alumni - and have free, ongoing access to KIPP's robust college- and career-advising program and resources. Throughout our history, more than 90 percent of KIPP eighth graders have earned admission to college-preparatory target high schools; to date, more than 90 percent of KIPP Baltimore alumni have graduated high school, and more than 70 percent have matriculated to college.
