Mission Statement
Kids In Crisis mission is to feed, care for, and educate children in the US and around the world. We currently have two active programs, KICDRUM which focuses on children in the US, and Lily's Hope which helps children in third world countries.
About This Cause
Kids In Crisis mission is to feed, care for, and educate children in the US and around the world. We currently have two active programs, KICDRUM and Lily's Hope. KICDRUM is a music based in and after school intervention program. It works in partnership with the participating schools, teachers, counselors, and parents to identify students that would benefit from our services. Students are placed in groups by grade level. Each group consists of 10 -12 students and meets weekly for a 45 minute session, over 10 weeks. Each week focuses on a different topic; the students each have their own drum, and are led by the facilitator to participate in group activities. At the end of the session the students have the opportunity to perform for their parents and peers. Participating schools run multiple groups throughout the school year. Students are impacted positively as it improves levels of concentration, self confidence, social skills, team work, aptitude, creativity, and community connection. This in turn improves school academic performance, reduced absenteeism, decreased disciplinary referrals, and increased awareness of the effects of their behavior on others. When students are able to learn to work together and respect one another it has a direct impact on the community that they live in. This reflects one of our core values, which is, bringing change from classrooms to communities. Lily's Hope raises funds to help children with medical and developmental disabilities. We are currently focusing our efforts in Nicaragua. We partner with other organizations to provide food, shelter and medical support.
