Mission Statement
Our purpose is to preserve and promote the gardens at the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land, and to support people in need in our community with produce grown in Fr. Francis’ garden, in keeping with the Franciscan tradition.
About This Cause
Since 2014, the all-volunteer FMGG has harvested and donated gratis 38 tons of vegetable produce to non-profit organizations in the metro DC area for those who need food. FMGG is the steward of the Franciscan Monastery's 107-year-old restored Metropolitan cast iron greenhouse, orchard with 70 fruit trees from Casey Trees, apiary with 30 bee hives, pollinator meadow and 2-acre urban farm.
