Mission Statement
Scouting America, National Capital Area Council delivers the promise of Scouting to youth in the Washington, DC metro area, including 16 counties in Maryland and Virginia, and in the US Virgin Islands. NCAC serves more than 35,000 youth members and 22,000 adult leaders, making the Council one of BSA's largest.
About This Cause
Scouting America, National Capital Area Council is a Class 200 council chartered by the Boy Scouts of America. It is one of the largest youth-serving organizations serving the greater Washington, DC metro area, and is comprised of 23 districts serving ten counties in Northern Virginia, six counties in Maryland, the District of Columbia, and the US Virgin Islands. Our council number is 82. NCAC serves the District of Columbia; Frederick, Montgomery, Prince George's, Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary's counties in Maryland, and in Virginia: Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, Loudoun, Fauquier, Spotsylvania, Caroline, King George, Stafford, and Culpeper counties and the independent cities of Alexandria, Falls Church, Fairfax, Manassas, Manassas Park, and Fredericksburg. Scouting America is the premier youth organization which provides young people with a positive environment where they can maximize their strengths and learn to be the best they can be. Youth learn the values of citizenship, develop character, improve personal fitness, build leadership, explore career interests and appreciate the environment through outdoor activities, educational programs and service to others.
