Mission Statement
To provide for the welfare and care of needy Sisters and Brothers of the Grand Lodge, F.A.A.M., and the Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star of the District of Columbia, their spouses and dependent children; and contribute, as far as possible, to the charitable needs of others through grants to other worthy tax-exempt charitable causes.
About This Cause
MESH was chartered by an Act of Congress, signed by President Roosevelt in 1902. Since then MESH has cared for a wide range of the most disadvantaged in the greater Washington DC community. Its primary focus was running a retirement home and orphanage. These facilities closed in the 1980s so that MESH could instead focus on providing the funding for high quality residential programs in the best facilities run by experts. MESH also provides limited grants to community charities that share mission objectives in the Washington DC area.
