Mission Statement

YWCA Richmond empowers women, children and families to live their best lives.

About This Cause

YWCA Richmond is a 131-year-strong nonprofit organization committed to the empowerment of women, children, and their families to live their best lives. We strengthen our community through its nationally-accredited early childhood education programming, violence prevention outreach, and free emergency and on-going services for survivors sexual assault, domestic violence and intimate partner violence. YWCA Richmond offers programming to empower women of all ages in Richmond, through its all-women Board of Directors, Young Women's Leadership Alliance, the annual Outstanding Women Awards and the Pat Asch Fellowship for Social Justice. We collaborate with two other domestic and sexual violence nonprofit agencies and several hospital campuses on the Regional Hospital Accompaniment and Response Team (R-HART). This volunteer-driven, 24/7 crisis service supports survivors of sexual and intimate partner violence with trained, on-call advocates to visit them in the emergency room after an assault has occurred. We partner with with five other agencies on the Greater Richmond Regional Hotline, a free, confidential resource for survivors and their advocates. If you or a loved one has experienced domestic, intimate partner violence or sexual violence, you may call the Greater Richmond Regional Hotline at 804-612-6126.
