Mission Statement
Founded in 1993, The Myositis Association (TMA) originally was named the Inclusion Body Myositis Association until it increased its focus in 1996 to include assisting those with polymyositis, dermatomyositis and juvenile dermatomyositis. After being renamed the Myositis Association of America, the Association’s name was changed once more in 2003 to recognize its growing international component.
About This Cause
The mission of The Myositis Association is: • Increase program support to the myositis patient and caregiver community. • Increase awareness of myositis throughout the general population with emphasis on the medical community. • Increase funding for TMA operations and myositis-related research.
