Mission Statement
Loudoun Volunteer Caregivers’ volunteers help frail elderly and disabled adults in Loudoun County to maintain independence and quality of life. Without LVC, many care receivers would have to move to assisted living facilities and nursing homes to get the services we provide; all services are provided for free, regardless of income. LVC’s volunteers provide assisted transportation to medical appointments, personal money management, and supportive services – including grocery delivery and trips to the bank. Care receivers tend to be people lacking family in the area or the support system needed to help them to remain living independently. Over 70% are low-income.
About This Cause
Loudoun Volunteer Caregivers is a private, nonprofit organization that mobilizes volunteers to help the frail elderly and disabled adults in Loudoun County to maintain independence and quality of life. LVC provides the support necessary to help the frail elderly and disabled remain in their own homes. Without LVC, many care receivers would have to move to assisted living facilities and nursing homes in order to get to their appointments, obtain groceries, receive companion-ship and manage their finances. Often, we are these care receivers and their families’ last hope. All services are provided for free, regardless of income. LVC’s volunteers provide assisted transportation to medical appointments, personal money management, and supportive services – including grocery delivery and trips to the bank. We help are mostly frail, elderly, chronically ill and disabled adults living in Loudoun County. They tend to be people lacking family in the area or the support system needed to help them to remain living independently. Over 70% are low-income. They must be 18 years of age or older. Our three service programs provide transportation and other neighborly services to some of Loudoun County’s most vulnerable citizens. Approximately half of the services we provide concerns getting people to medical appointments (doctors’ offices, physical therapy, dialysis treatments, etc.). The other half of our services concerns providing simple assistance with tasks they used to be able to accomplish on their own, but now need some help with. With these services, our volunteers help with picking up groceries and prescriptions, simple home maintenance, maintaining and improving basic quality of life, managing finances, and respite care for full-time caregivers.
