Mission Statement
Our mission is to champion our military through investment, advocacy and outreach. PenFed Credit Union generously covers most of the administrative costs and salaries of The PenFed Foundation, so more of your donation goes directly to our programs.
About This Cause
The PenFed Foundation for Military Heroes serves a variety of unmet needs of military communities. Our core programs provide financial assistance to improve the lives of military heroes through, entrepreneurship, individual grants and other needs of the military community. Since 2001, we have been able to support more than 140,000 service members and veterans thanks to donors, sponsors, and veteran service organizations. Veteran Entrepreneur Program (VEP) - has been instrumental in fostering economic opportunities for military founders, equipping them with the education, mentorship, and resources necessary to thrive in today’s competitive business landscape. The VEP has provided structured accelerator cohorts designed specifically for veteran-owned startups. The program comprises immersive seminars, tailored mentorship, and exclusive pitch competitions that enable entrepreneurs to secure institutional investment and refine their strategic vision. Military Heroes Program- Grants are awarded to veterans, active military, National Guard, and Reserve members for community leadership and successful employment expenses that they are unable to afford on their own. Examples include participation in conferences, trainings and certification expenses. Individual grants do not cover monthly bills, legal fees, medical bills, tuitions, or home or auto repairs. Whether active duty or retired, our service members are pillars of their communities. Through our Military Heroes Program, The PenFed Foundation provides high impact grants that celebrate the leadership and selfless service of military members and support the transition from service to civilian life. Since the PenFed Credit Union underwrites our salaries and most administrative costs, nearly every dollar raised goes to programs.
