Mission Statement

At the YWCA Charleston we are dedicated to our mission: eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.

About This Cause

For over 100 years, YWCA Charleston has served some of the most vulnerable in Boone, Clay, and Kanawha counties in West Virginia. Each year our programs provide shelter, counseling, education, advocacy, nourishment, and homes for almost 10,000 individuals, including homeless women and their families, children of low-income families, and victims of domestic violence and elder abuse. We measure our impact not only by the services we provide but also by the outcomes they achieve – and we are proud to report significant increases in rates of housing stability, employment, academic enrollment and self-sufficiency for clients across all our programs.
